PICKLE JAR Modern quilted runner for wall or table 13.5 by 65 inches
This handmade modern textile was designed to hang on the wall or to use as a table runner. The traditional cathedral window shape is presented with a modern twist to give it mid-century styling. The abstract design and fresh color palette will bring a modern accent to any room in your home. The fabrics include a triangle print and cotton solids in shades of green, blue, and aqua. I sewed rod pockets in each of the four corners so you can hang on the wall vertically in either orientation. To hang, use a wooden dowel or flat slat cut to about 12.5 inches, tucking the ends of the dowel into the corner pockets. Then set the dowel on a nail or pushpin in the wall. You may also use it as a table runner in dining room, entryway console, bedroom dresser, or coffee table.
I used variegated thread to stitch wavy lines, circles and echo lines across the surface of the runner. This free-motion stitching adds another layer of design and textural interest. Unbleached cotton batting gives the runner body and structure. The back has a small improv block using the same fabrics as the front and framed in olive green solid. The binding in dark green was attached securely with two rounds of machine stitching for durability. Fabrics and batting are premium 100% cotton.
After construction, the runner was machine washed, tumble dried on low for 5 minutes, then removed from the dryer while partially damp and laid flat to air dry. If you continue this care, no further shrinkage will occur.
Care: Machine wash in cold water. Tumble dry on low for 5 minutes, then lay flat to air dry.
